On July 31, 2025, the Community Youth Development Institute (CYDI) marked a milestone at 7839 South Union, the groundbreaking of a new single-family home built by our YouthBuild pre-apprenticeship students.

The future is being built, one student at a time, one skill at a time, one home at a time. And it all

starts on July 31st.

Our students walked across the stage not just as graduates, but as trailblazers, young people who have pressed forward with purpose, even when the odds were sometimes stacked against you.

Despite the challenges, you have thrived. In the classroom and beyond you have taken advantage of all that CYDI has to offer, expanding your understanding of what it means to be CYDI Ready

This graduating class can be thankful that they’ve reached this milestone and persevered through numerous obstacles.

This graduating class can do anything they set their minds to. Students that can work successfully through the impact of COVID-19 can handle any adversity that comes their way.

Since the threat of COVID-19 first became a reality for our area and our nation, administrators at CYDI began proactively preparing and supplementing our health, safety, and cleaning protocols.

Is the education system in America broken? Many people will automatically say, "yes." But I believe that if you examine the position closely, you will see that it is not necessarily "broken."
